Merital

Merital on your ManageBac

Connection via Public API token managed by the school admin. No LTI (ManageBac doesn't support it as consumer) but a cross-LMS dashboard in Merital and automatic grade return to ManageBac's gradebook.

What Merital does with your LMS

Seven standard capabilities, identical across providers. What changes per LMS is how we connect, not what we do.

  • Secure authentication

Standard OAuth 2.0 (Moodle/Canvas/Blackboard/Google) or Public API token managed by the school admin (ManageBac). AES-256-GCM encrypted tokens in database.

  • Courses and classes

Merital lists and syncs the teacher's courses exactly as they are in your LMS, respecting enrollment and roles.

  • Assignments

Per course, Merital sees the LMS tasks and the teacher enables Merital grading assignment by assignment.

  • Student submissions

Merital lists submissions per assignment and marks which ones are pending grading.

  • File download

On-demand download of PDFs or images for each submission. Temporary cache, never permanent duplication. The file lives in your LMS.

  • Grade to gradebook

When the teacher publishes in Merital, the grade appears automatically in the LMS gradebook. No copy-paste.

  • LTI 1.3 launch

The teacher opens Merital right from the LMS in one click, without leaving the flow. Applies to LMS that support LTI Advantage.

    Not supported by the LMS

The same grading interface across all your LMS

Moodle, ManageBac, Canvas, Blackboard or Classroom: when you grade, you land in the same Merital UI. Your faculty learns once, grades everywhere.

How ManageBac connects

Your school admin does it once. Teachers then sign in with their school Google account.

  1. 1

Admin generates Public API token in ManageBac

Settings → Develop → API Manager in ManageBac. Copy the token and paste it in Merital. Merital AES-256-GCM encrypts it immediately.

  2. 2

Merital validates the token and fetches the school

Automatic health check. If it fails, Merital tells you exactly which permission is missing — no opaque API error messages.

  3. 3

    Teachers sign in with Google

Sign in with school email. Merital looks up the email in ManageBac and resolves which classes they teach without creating another account.

  4. 4

Teacher sees their classes and grades

The teacher sees only THEIR classes, isolated from the rest of the faculty (strict multi-tenancy). Open an exam, grade, publish, and the grade appears in ManageBac.
